SAUSAGE, CHERRY TOMATO, RED ONION & FRESH BASIL PIZZA

Are you looking for something fast, delicious, and “fab”?!

Look no further: this pizza took no time at all AND it’s healthier with a few veggies!

It really is amazing what you can do with a few ingredients and a little time. I feel like I created a masterpiece in my kitchen tonight. The flavors of this pizza hit the spot! I felt like I was dining in Italy scarfing down an authentic pizza.

I call this: my authentic spicy sausage, cherry tomato, fresh basil, and red onion pizza! Yeah it’s a mouthful, but don’t let the long name fool you (it’s practically all the ingredients).

I wonder what to title my food because there’s so many delicious things that the title can’t live without each being named and described. One of my favorite things about this pizza is the
“fresh basil”. It really is so fresh, let me tell you why! It came from my basil plant on my front porch. Pretty cool huh!

Hint: remember to drain the sausage and blot it to remove excess grease.

I chose spicy Italian sausage for this pizza! It tastes great with tomatoes and gives a little kick. However, if you’re not a spicy fan purchase the mild Italian sausage instead (just as good AND flavorful).

I also like to spread minced garlic on the pizza crust (I think this ingredient is listed in all of my recipes, oops!). But you can always omit the garlic if you’re not a fan like me. Personally garlic makes every and any dish in my opinion.

ingredients:
3 pizza crusts, one package (small)
3 spicy Italian sausages, sliced
1/2 red onion
1/2 pint cherry tomatoes, cut into 4’s
6 basil leaves
Olive oil
1.5 teaspoons minced garlic
Prego traditional marinara (you can use pizza sauce instead)
Shredded mozzarella cheese

instructions:
1. Slice sausage into pieces, cook in a sautée pan, then drain grease and blot on paper towel, set aside
2. Preheat oven to 450 degrees
3. Slice onion into thin pieces, cut cherry tomatoes into four pieces each
4. Cover each pizza crust in olive oil and brush around
5. Spoon 1/2 teaspoon each of minced garlic on top of olive oil
6. Spoon sauce onto each pizza crust, do more or less depending on your preference!
7. Start layering with sliced onion, tomatoes, then cooked sausage
8. Top with “balls” of mozzarella (I prefer to put little balls spread out on the pizza, they melt and look “authentic” (there’s my reason ;))
9. Turn oven down to 425 degrees
10. Bake for 9 minutes, or until cheese is brown and bubbly AND melty!

Use this for a quick dinner night. Or use it when you’re in the mood for some tasty delights. I do want to let you know that his pizza is not heavy or greasy. They always say its much healthier to eat a pizza at home instead of a pizza at a restaurant. You can reduce the fat and make sure your ingredients are natural and healthy!

As always, please don’t hesitate with questions or confusion. I’m always scared or nervous to post on someones blog with a question or even concern. But please I want everyone to feel like their questions are important if they have them!
